Bread and Roses
今週の土曜日に公開する映画で使われている歌です。
1912年、アメリカで起こったストライキで、
女性たちが掲げたプラカードに書かれた言葉。
「パンとバラ」
私たちにはパンが必要。でもバラの花も欲しいのです。
すごく根本的で大切なこと、言ってます。
今やユニオン・ソングとも言われるようですが、
女性たちの言葉にインスピレーションを受けて
ジェイムス・オッペンハイムが詩を作り、歌になったとか。
映画では、ウェールズ出身のブロンウェン・ルイスが
心に響く美声を披露していました。
